Dear Athletes,
Today is the official launch of Singapore’s first-ever night running race, the adidas Sundown Marathon!
Guest of Honour Mr Teo Ser Luck (Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and Ministry of Transport and Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC) got together with fellow running contemporaries Mr Michael Palmer (Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris – Punggol GRC), Ms Jessica Tan (Member of Parliament for East Coast GRC), Mr Christopher de Souza (Member of Parliament for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC) and Dr Fatimah Lateef (Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC) to pledge for their preferred race bib numbers for the upcoming race.
The event, held at The HortPark’s Fruit Room, launched the event’s official online race bib bidding system, which participants can bid for their desired number tags.
Bib bidding starts at $50, with minimum increments of $10 therefore.
Along with the funds pledged by the MPs at the launch event, all proceeds from the online auction will go to Beyond Social Services, adidas’ adopted charity for the past two years.
Oakley, the official eyewear of the event, customized a pair of exclusive Sundown Marathon ‘Radar’ and ‘Flak Jacket’ each for the online auction. The collector’s edition eyewears are going for $430 and $370 for the Radar and Flak Jacket respectively.
This will be the first time ever that runners will be able to select their preferred race identification numbers through this unique auction, and the entire amount raised will go towards a special sports fund for the children at Beyond Social Services.
